Environmental Regulations for Workplaces requires that you provide at least 2.25 square metres of open floor space per employee. How do you go about doing this task? Have these 12 staff members help you determine space requirements.

While Environmental Regulations for Workplaces compel you to provide sufficient space for employees, they also recognise the fact that this isn't a simple task.

In fact, there are several people you need to involve when you determine workplace space requirements.

And you need to do this at the planning stage (of your business), when you start your business, expand it or relocate to new premises.

If you don't, the Health & Safety Advisor says you need to create a task team to address the matter. 'A team strategy is useful as each employee will look at the requirements from their own frame of reference and together they can produce a better result.'

Use these 12 staff members help you determine space requirements in your workplace

The following twelve employees need to think about and apply their knowledge regarding work space requirements:

  1. Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director or a Head of a Government Department
  2. Concept team (the group of people who put together the idea for your business)
  3. Project manager
  4. Operations Manager
  5. Financial Manager.
  6. Productivity expert. This person will help you plan the work flow to optimise production within a defined workspace).
  7. Engineers
  8. Safety Manager
  9. Occupational Health Practitioner
  10. Health and Safety officers
  11. Architect
  12. Incident investigation team members.

Having these 12 people help you determine your space requirements will ensure your employees have sufficient space to work. And will help ensure your workplace isn't overcrowded.
