If you want to find ways to improve your employees' performance, ask them these five questions

Here are some questions experts behind the Practical Guide to Human Resources Management say you should ask:

Question #1: Where do you feel there are opportunities to improve individual and group performance?

Question #2: Are you experiencing any difficulties and how can we overcome these?

Question #3: Are there areas where we could distribute work better or use technology to reduce workloads?

Question #4: Are there any job enrichment opportunities you would like to suggest, or any new areas of responsibility that you'd like exposure to?

Question #5: Do you have any suggestions regarding training that could be done to close the gaps in performance?

These are just examples of questions you can ask to improve performance.

Feel free to go further and use questioning techniques that'll help you explore general change, management opportunities to improve morale, work integration, business opportunities and new revenue streams.

'Use this opportunity to explore ways to adapt to changes occurring in your employee's work environment which you, as the manager, may have overlooked,' say the experts.

The bottom line: Asking these five questions during a performance review is crucial if you want to find ways to improve your employees' performance.
