by , 10 November 2014
The success of your employees' end of year performance reviews largely depends on your preparation.

Not only must you prepare your employees, but you must also prepare thoroughly for the review, or you'll be wasting the time of everyone involved.

So how do you prepare?

Here are the seven things you must do to thoroughly prepare for your employees' end of year performance reviews.

Do these seven things to prepare thoroughly for your end of year performance reviews with your employees

1. Review employee records
This could include biographical information and past career experience as well as job descriptions.
You can also review records about personality profiles, aptitudes and abilities. Check if there are any file notes of records and achievements that could contribute to the session.

2. Know your employees' competencies
Review the job description and job specification for the position. Know the skills and competencies required for the position and how these match with the employee concerned.

#5: Be clear on what performance standards you expect
Decide on what future objectives will be set for the next review.

#6: Decide on motivators to improve performance
This could include suggesting additional responsibilities, job rotation opportunities and greater involvement in decision making forums.
