The one thing you must do before you fill in your IT14SD form

If SARS has told you to submit your IT14SD form via eFiling, log in to eFiling and click on 'returns' in the top menu.

Select 'returns issued' and choose the 'IT14/IT12TR/IT12EI' under 'returns history'. This will show a history of your company's returns. Then click on IT14SD to open the return in 'issued' state.

The IT14SD will then be pre-populated with the following information:

  • Your income tax reference number;
  • The year of assessment;
  • A case number; and
  • A unique barcode to ensure you only complete and return the original form to SARS.

Before you fill anything in on your IT14SD, you must check all of the pre-populated information carefully to make sure your company's details are correct. If something is incorrect, rectify it or update things that are out-of-date.

After this, you'll have fill out the five sections on the form.

Note: You must fill out the sections that apply to your business.

In this article, we explain that the IT14SD form contains the following schedules or sections:

  1. PAYE reconciliation schedule;
  2. Income Tax reconciliation schedule;
  3. Vat reconciliation schedule;
  4. Customs the reconciliation schedule; and
  5. Reconciling items.

There you have it: Before you fill in your IT14SD, check that the pre-populated information is correct or you could run into serious problems with SARS.
