Here are the two documents you'll need during a safety audit

by , 11 August 2014
It's important to do a safety audit once a year. It's the best way to determine if your health and safety programme still works well.

If you don't use the right documents though, this process can turn into a bit of a disaster. You'll be disorganised and you won't be able to convey your findings properly.

So when it's time for your annual health and safety audit, ensure you create these two documents...

This is the first document you need to create to keep your safety audit on track

When your annual health and safety audit rolls around, the first thing you need to do is prepare. This is where this first document comes in.

As part of your preparation, you must create a safety audit checklist. This checklist should cover the departments you want to audit, the aspects you may want to focus on, the employees you want to interview and the questions you want to ask.

This checklist with guide your audit process and keep you on track throughout your interviews.

The other document you'll need at the end of the audit.

*********** Hot off the press  ************

Are you complying with the entire OHS Act and 19 Regulations?

Are you 100% compliant? How can you be sure?

*************************************

Here's the second document you must create at the end of your safety audit

At the end of your safety audit, you must create your health and safety audit report. This report must contain your 'Unsatisfactory Finding' and your plan of actions to fix the problems.

This is how you convey your findings to management and ensure they're on board with the changes you want to make.

Without these two documents you won't get all the benefits you should from a safety audit. So take your time to create both of these documents and you'll see the difference in your company's safety.
