If your employees work at heights, do these four things to ensure they're safe

by , 27 November 2013
If your employees work at heights, you must have a fall protection plan in place. In addition to this, you must ensure your safety monitoring systems are in place. How do you do this? Today, we explain...

Do your employees work at elevated heights?

If so, you must have a process for monitoring their safety while they're working.

Here're four activities to ensure employees working at heights are safe

The Health & Safety Advisor says you must do these four things to ensure your employees safety:

#1: Even though you've already completed your risk assessment for the work, you must do a pre-start risk assessment before your employees start work each day.

#2: This risk assessment deals with any changes that take place between shifts of work.

#3: Inspect and check on your workers regularly while they do the work (the frequency will depend on the type of work they're doing at the time). You can design a checklist from your pre-start risk assessment for this.

#4: Once the work for that day is completed, do another risk assessment and note the changes so you can use them in your risk assessment for the next day.

Remember to keep all your risk assessments in your health and safety file. This is your proof you've done them.

Taking the safety measures outlined will help ensure employees working at elevated heights are well protected.
