Prevent workplace fire disasters in these three easy steps

by , 09 October 2014
A fire could spell disaster for your company. Everything you worked so hard to create could disappear in seconds.

This is something you can't let happen.

But the good news is, you can prevent it. All you have to do is take these three steps...

To save your company from a workplace fire, you must take these three steps

Step 1: Educate your employees on fire hazards

It's important to educate your employees so they know what hazards can cause fires. For example, it's important they know the hazards involved in smoking. A cigarette that's still burning could easily start a fire if your employee drops it somewhere.

If you teach your employees to be careful of these hazards, it will help prevent fires that happen because of carelessness.

Step 2: Provide the appropriate fire fighting equipment

To protect your company against a fire, you must have equipment to help your employees put it out. So mount fire extinguishers on your walls around your office so your employees can quickly grab them and put out the fire.

You must signpost these by putting emergency signs above them. These look like something like this:

Step 3: Appoint a fire team

Your fire team is in charge of managing your fire extinguishers and helping you fight fires. It's important to have a fire team because they'll know what to do if a fire breaks out. They can contain it until the fire department arrives.

Take these three steps today so a fire never destroys your workplace.
