To be OHS Act compliant, give your employees these two things

by , 17 October 2014
The OHS Act outlines everything you must do to protect your employees at work. This includes creating a clean, safe and hygienic workplace.

But it's not all about the conditions your employees work in. It's also about what you need to give your employees so they can protect themselves.

So what must you give them?

Read on to find out...

The OHS Act requires you to give your employees these two things

1. Health and safety training
The OHS Act says you must give your employees health and safety training on how to work safely. This is important so they know what to do and what not to do so they can avoid accidents.

If you leave out this vital and legal step, your employees will get into countless accidents because they won't know what to do to keep themselves safe.

You must make this training a constant and ongoing process so your employees always know what to do.

Here's the second thing the OHS Act requires you to give your employees.

According to the OHS Act, you must also give your employees this

2. Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Your employees must have risk specific PPE to protect them against injuries while they're at work.

You must do a risk assessment to find out what risks your employees face so you can give them PPE that protects them from these risks.

Store and maintain your employees' PPE correctly to ensure it keeps them safe.

Provide your employees with these two legal requirements so they have the tools they need to protect themselves at work.

PS. And don't forget to check your health and safety training complies with the OHS Act by checking out the Health and Safety Training Manual. It has everything you need to effectively train your employees.
