To pass a DoL inspection, follow these two health and safety rules

by , 03 November 2014
If a DoL inspector arrives at your workplace, it could shut your business down if you haven't complied with all the OHS Act laws.

He could charge you with non-compliance and that means prohibitions, penalties, company shut downs or even jail time.

Don't let this happen. You can easily comply.

All you have to do is follow these two health and safety rules to turn DoL visit into a dream...

Follow these two rules so you pass your next DoL inspector's visit

Rule 1: Prepare all of your documents ahead of time
You need to have a complete SHE file with all the relevant health and safety documents. This file is a vital part of ensuring the inspector doesn't penalise your company.
This file will show the inspector what you have or haven't done in terms of compliance so ensure it's complete. (If you need help creating your SHE file check out the SHE File CD. It contains everything you need to create yours from scratch).
But that's not all. Read on for the second rule you must follow.
*********** Hot off the press  ************
Are you complying with the entire OHS Act and 19 Regulations?
Are you 100% compliant? How can you be sure?
Rule 2: Do health and safety compliance audits on your company
A health and safety compliance audit will help you determine where you have and haven't complied. Using systems such as the OHSAS 18001 to audit your company and test its health and safety management system will ensure you catch any health and safety problems before the DoL inspector does.
Do these audits annually to ensure you comply year after year. We also recommend you check out Health and Safety Audit Smart for everything you need on health and safety audits.
Follow these two rules and you'll be ready to welcome the DoL inspector in whenever he arrives.
