The DoL inspectors are coming....
I'm not sure if you're aware, but it seems as if the Department of Labour EE inspectors are everywhere these days! A number of my clients have had unexpected visits to check they're complying with the Employment Equity Act - and quite a few of them are currently being subjected to a Director-General review.
A new client recently called me in a panic because he'd received a Notification of a Director-General Review. He was right to be concerned – that means that the Department of Labour will be going through all EE aspects with a fine tooth-comb! I explained that ticking the boxes to say you've taken the minimum steps to get EE going in your organisation is just not enough. The D-G will look at the impact of your AA initiatives and what you're actually
doing to ensure that EE permeates your business.
My client lamented that he has all the information about EE but he was looking for practical, real-life examples of how EE can actually work in organisations. He was very willing to give it a try but he just felt all the requirements were tedious. I thought some practical advice from companies who had got it right would be invaluable.
Luckily, my contact at Fleet Street, Vongai has been thinking along the same lines. She's come up with the brilliant idea of hosting the EE Summit 2016
- an EE conference.
I'll be there to give you the critical information you need to understand the requirements of the EE Act and also how to develop a legally compliant EE Plan. And there'll be true-life case studies from companies that have managed to integrate EE successfully, as well as those that are a good way down the EE track! What a fabulous opportunity to get the critical know-how and
the practical exposure from businesses like yours, who were once in the same boat that you're in now! I highly recommend that you attend!
