by , 17 July 2014
Do you struggle to keep your employees safe? Do they have constant accidents and countless injuries? You're not alone in this struggle. Thousands of employers fight this health and safety battle constantly.

The reason for this though, is no one has let you in on the secret to safe employees yet. It's a simple step that makes all the difference.

Today, we reveal this secret...

Three tips to get your employees to comply with health and safety laws

Employees think that safety is something 'management' must do. They're wrong. Employees also have duties to comply with the OHS Act.

It's your responsibility to make sure your employees comply. Don't know how to do it?

The secret to safe employees is – knowledge

The old saying goes: 'Knowledge is power'! This is true for everything including health and safety. Now I don't mean your knowledge. As the one in charge of it, you have all the health and safety knowledge you need.

No, I mean your employees' knowledge. They need to know just as much as you do about health and safety for them to protect themselves.

This is why OHS training isn't just vital to your health and safety programme, the OHS Act also requires it.

So if you really want your employees to be safe at all times, this is what you must train them on...

Give your employees OHS training on these topics to keep them safe

To ensure your employees are safe at all times give them OHS training on:

1. The risks they face at work;
2. How to use safety equipment and their PPE;
3. How to react when there's an accident;
4. How to report risks that can cause an accident;
5. How to report accidents;
6. Their health and safety responsibilities to themselves and to each other; and
7. The OHS Act.

If you give your employees all of the right information on these safety topics they'll be able to keep themselves safe.
