They may be represented by a shop steward (a trade union representative) if there's one available.
They can take part in protected strikes.
This is a strike that doesn't involve essential services or designated maintenance services and that has gone through the correct pre-strike procedures.
They have a right to participate in elections for shop stewards, officials and office bearers.
Each employee has a right to stand for election, for appointment as a shop steward, official or office bearer.
Those were seven rights your employees have to form an alliance against you. So be careful not to obstruct them in any way. This can include you:
· Harassing employees for making demands;
· Victimising employees who are part of a trade union or who wish to join one; or
· Discriminate, in any way, against an employee or job applicant because of trade union ties etc.
