According to Goodman-Bhyat, the decrease in fake CVs
is because of increased and much improved vetting.
Perhaps the stories of top officials with fake CVs also helped to highlight this issue and made companies more stringent when it comes to checking CVs and qualifications.
This is definitely good news, but it doesn't mean you have to stop vetting potential employees.
It's essential to check all qualifications and other claims made by candidates on their CVs, says Goodman-Bhyat
She says, you must rightly insist on a comprehensive vetting of qualifications prior to extending an offer to candidates and you must write this into your recruitment strategy. Otherwise, you could become a victim of CV fraud.
It's a good idea to go further by checking the academic transcripts of candidates where relevant.
Goodman-Bhyat adds that you must also investigate the profile of the institution where a degree was earned.
'A masters or doctorate from a reputable institution is not equivalent to a masters or doctorate from an online 'pay-for-your-paper' institution,' she says.
The bottom line is that CV fraud is very real and while it's good that there's been a slight decrease, you must carrying on doing checks to ensure you aren't duped by potential employees.
