Three methods to verify your job candidate's driver's licence

According to the Labour Law for Managers Loose Leaf Service, there are three ways to verify a driver's licence:

Method 1: You can apply to the relevant local traffic department.

Method 2: You can send a request through to the Department of Transport.

The following documents must accompany your application to the Department of Transport:

  • A copy of the applicant's identity document;
  • A copy of the applicant's driver's licence;
  • A letter from applicant requesting verification of the licence; and
  • Contact details for the applicant.

Method 3: You can ask the applicant to contact the Department of Transport directly and give you the results.

Remember, you can only perform driver's licence checks with the consent of the applicant. And you must do these checks if driving is part of the job requirement of the applicant.

We recommend you check out this article. It contains four more backgrounds checks you must conduct before you hire an employee.

There you have it: Using these three methods will help you verify your job candidate's driver's licence legally.
