Great news! You can now merge all your taxes under a single eFile profile

by , 07 November 2014
It's no secret that taxpayers don't like SARS.

Some even go as far as saying it's a bully and is always squeezing them out of their hard earned cash.

Whatever your feelings are about SARS, you can't fault it when it comes to technology.

A few years ago, it introduced eFiling to help you complete your returns accurately and safely online.

It's now improved its eFiling tool to make it even more convenient for you to complete your returns. You can now merge all your taxes under a single profile on eFiling.

Here are the benefits of this new development...

Merging all your taxes under a single profile is now possible on eFiling

On the 1st of this month, SARS introduced a new merging function on eFiling.

SARS explains that this function will help individual taxpayers, registered representatives of entities and tax practitioners to easily merge all types of taxes, for example, income tax, employees' tax, as well as customs and excise, into one single profile for each client or entity.

Why did SARS introduce this new eFiling function?

SARS says, due to the high number of inconsistencies on taxpayer registered details across taxes, its been unable to provide a single consolidated view of an entity.

So to reduce the number of requests to 'Maintain registered particulars' on a single entity profile and to reduce the number of repeated visits to a SARS branch to record the registered representative, this functionality will allow these individuals to:

  • Consolidate a tax type registration into one profile where SARS can match your identity number and identity details across tax products; and

  • Provide SARS with a tax reference number for each tax type that's currently excluded from your eFiling profile.

And the best part is, you'll only have to merge taxes under a single profile once. Any new registration will then be linked to the single profile.

You need to first activate the merging before doing the actual merging. We recommend you checkout SARS' website for a step-by-step guide on how to merge all your taxes under a single profile.
