Still not using eFiling? Here are five reasons why you should...

by , 29 July 2013
While SARS eFiling was introduced ten years ago, some taxpayers are still using the manual method. And they're missing out on the many benefits of eFiling. If you aren't using eFiling, make 2013 the year of change and join more than 2 million South Africans who submit their returns electronically. Still not convinced? Here are five reasons why you must use eFiling to simplify your life.

If you're looking for an easy, free service that allows you to submit your tax returns and declarations, make payments and communicate with SARS in a secure online environment, look no further than the SARS eFiling facility.

While registration on SARS eFiling isn't compulsory, it certainly has its advantages.

Here are five advantages of using SARS eFiling

  1. You get email notification whenever a return has been issued;
  2. The problem of paper returns becoming lost in the post is a thing of the past;
  3. You don't have to stand in long queues or risk delays;
  4. In the case of Vat, you're given until the end of the month to submit your return and payment instead of the normal due date of the 25th of the month. Those extra few days can be a lifesaver, especially if cash flow is tight at month-end, says the Practical Tax Loose Leaf Service; and
  5. The site keeps a full history of all returns and payments you submit via eFiling. This means you can re-print a submitted return or payment confirmation any time.

If you're not registered yet for eFiling, click here and follow these simple and easy steps to register.

And while you're there, take time to file your individual 2013 tax return if you haven't done so. Remember, your deadline is 22 November 2013.

Using the SARS eFiling facility will make the process of handling your tax affairs easy and simple.
