Three reasons why you shouldn't attend just any cheap VAT course

Three reasons why you shouldn't attend just any cheap VAT courseAre there VAT courses out there, cheaper than the VAT Masterclass 2016?

The answer to your question is Yes! There most certainly are. And there are shorter courses too.

But are they to your benefit?

A few weeks ago, I attended a cheaper, morning VAT workshop. I have to admit I was curious to find out more information on how vendors were dealing with the SARS VAT audit. Here are three lessons I found...

1.You pay for what you get

Well firstly, I was surprised to find upwards of 50 people attending. Were they there because the course was cheap and quick? Probably. But here's the thing…
Here's what I learnt: absolutely nothing!
And not because I'm a VAT fundi. But because the lecturer spent the whole morning telling the audience which tax committees he served on and how they're always in negotiations with SARS to change the law and change the forms.
You pay for what you get…
2.There wasn't enough time to cover all the burning topics

Many of the points on the advertised agenda weren't dealt with as we ran out of time.  Needless to say, the audit part wasn't even touched.

Read on for the final reason…

Did you know there are three instances when your VAT account becomes overdue?
And when that happens, SARS will slap you with hefty fines and penalties.

Find out what these three instances are so you can avoid them. And if your VAT account is already overdue, there's a lifeline in the Tax Admin Act.

3.There was no assistance given

Because we ran out of time, there was no room left for questions. So when the questions were raised the lecturer simply said he was not taking questions as our time was up…

How were the attendees then assisted to deal with SARS?
They weren't!
You won't find this at the VAT Masterclass!
I like to describe myself as a very practical person.  Which means that everything I deal with in the VAT Law as it relates to the Masterclass is followed up by practical, relevant examples.
And while I can't boast of committees I serve on, I can boast about our course content, and that I will answer ALL your questions – in or out of time!
You'll leave the VAT Masterclass confident in your VAT knowledge and most importantly, confident to face SARS and their petty little queries.
And yes, the course is lengthy (2 days) and it does cost more, but be careful of being 'penny wise and pound foolish'. A cheaper course, where you don't learn much, may cost you up to 200% penalties if SARS finds errors in your VAT!
But don't just take my word for it, here's what a few of my previous delegates had to say…

·         'The best VAT course I've attended in 43 years!' L Bartlet, Bookkeeper
·         'I enjoyed everything, as I learnt all about VAT. Before the workshop I never knew anything about VAT' S Hansen, Debtors Clerk
·         'Dee gave us practical scenarios and showed us where to find support in the VAT law' Y Van Der Linde, Financial Controller
