11 Questions the DoL inspector can catch you out with!

The Department of Labour can send an inspector to your construction site and demand to inspect it. What's more is that this can be done without any prior warning!

The inspector can ask your employees certain questions so as to see if you' are complying with the Construction Regulations.

Failure to comply with these regulations can lead to hefty fines of up to R100 000! So don't be caught out!

Here are 11 questions the inspector can ask your employees, so be aware of them and prepare accordingly:

Question#1: 'Has your employer applied for a construction permit and where is the unique permit number?' 

Question#2: 'Have you been provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?'

Question# 3: 'Did you have to pay for your PPE?'

Question#4: 'Before you started working, did you receive any health and safety training?'

Question#5: 'Are your lockers, toilets, eating areas and showers etc. sheltered?'

Question#6: 'Do you get paid for overtime worked?'

Your Health and Safety role is not exactly an easy one!
