Four human disasters you must prepare your company for

by , 14 October 2014
When you think of workplace disasters, what do you think of?

Do you picture fires, explosions, earthquakes and lightning strikes? These are all emergencies that come from nature or some kind of mechanical disaster.

But what if I told you that people can cause serious emergencies too.

These are just as unpredictable as natural and mechanical disasters because you can't always tell when someone is going to do something terrible.

That's why you need to prepare your workplace for human disasters too, particularly these four...

Prepare for these four human disasters in case one happens in your workplace

1. A violent strike
Here in South Africa, strikes are a common occurrence. It's when these turn violent that things can really go wrong. If angry workers force their way into your workplace and damage your property or harm the workers who aren't on strike, it can get very ugly.

Prepare for an emergency like this by training your employees on what to do and where to go to get away from the danger. Also keep the police's number on hand so you can call them for back up.

If someone walks into your workplace and starts shooting, your employees must know how to respond. You also need a way to call the police and deal with the shooter.

3. A bomb scare
It may sound like something out of Hollywood, but if someone knows how to make a bomb, he could easily plant it in your workplace.

4. A fight between employees
If two of your employees get into a physical fight, it could easily get out of hand. You need to deal with this emergency situation before it turns into a full on office brawl.

Take steps today to prepare for these human disasters before someone turns your workplace into your worst nightmare.
