Four signs your company is about to go up in flames

by , 22 October 2014
If a fire starts in your workplace, it could destroy everything: Your building, your work and even kill your employees.

That's why you have to do everything you can to prevent this.

The best way to avoid it is to look for the warning signs.

And when it comes to workplace fires, there are four warnings signs you must look out for...

Don't miss these four fire warning signs in your business

1. Old equipment that overheats
If your equipment overheats easily, it's a fire waiting to happen. This is an important warning sign because old electrical appliances often cause fires.

You must repair and replace your equipment when necessary to prevent this.

2. Problems with your electrical system
If your lights flicker on and off a lot and there's a constant buzz from your electrical board, it suggests a problem with your electrical system.

Fix this A.S.A.P. because most business fires happen because of old electrical systems.

WARNING: Just because you've appointed a first aider and have a first aid kit in your office doesn't mean you've done everything to protect your employees

Do your first aiders know what it is?

3. Smoking employees
If your employees smoke where ever they want, whenever they want, they could easily cause a fire. You need to have clear rules about where your employees can smoke so they don't cause a fire.

4. Overloaded plug sockets
Overloading a plug socket will make it overheat and this could make it spark. It only takes one spark to start a fire in your workplace. Never let anyone overload your plugs.

You have to keep an eye out for these warning signs. If you spot them, take action fast before they cause your company to go up in flames.
