by , 29 October 2014
You have to appoint a health and safety committee. But it's not just the committee you must appoint. You need to appoint someone to chair it as well.

The chairperson for your HSE committee has a very important role. It's up to him to handle all your committee meetings and ensure you get through the agenda of each meeting.

But first you have to brief your chairperson on seven responsibilities he has.

Read on to find out how to appoint the chairperson and ensure he knows how to fulfil his duties...

Here's how to appoint your health and safety committee chairperson

You can appoint your HSE committee chairperson or you can do it in the committee. What this means is the committee as a whole can elect a chairperson.

Then issue the chairperson with a legal appointment letter

When you appoint someone, whether you appoint him or your committee does, ensure he knows about these seven key duties before he signs the appointment letter and agrees to take the role.
