Warning: South Africa is expecting flash floods today! Here's what to do so they don't destroy your business

Weather South Africa has put out a flash flood warnings. The site warns that the Free State, North West province, and the Western Cape will expertise heavy rain today. Gauteng will experience it tonight and tomorrow morning. Then it will then move onto the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.

It's also warning that all this rain could result in flash floods putting you, your employees and your business in serious danger.

Here are four tips you can use to ensure these possible floods don't wipe out your business...

1. Evacuate your company as fast as you can if it seems likely that the area is going to flood
Follow your evacuation procedures so you can get your employees out of the building if a flood starts. 
 
Do this fast before the flood makes it impossible to leave the area or your building.
 
2. Turn off all your electrical systems and appliances
If your building starts flooding, it could turn deadly if water reaches anything electrical. This will short circuit your whole system and could even start a fire in an area where there isn't water.

3. If your building starts to flood, tell your employees not to walk through moving water
Even six inches of water is dangerous to walk through because it can causes falls. If water flowing rapidly, the current could also wash your employees away. 
 
4. Don't let your employees back into the office building until the flood is over and your building is given the all clear
This is very important because a flooded building becomes a breading ground for mould and bacteria. You must completely clean and fix your workplace before you let anyone back in.
 
Use these four tips so if flash floods happen, so they won't destroy your business.
