Do your employees follow your health and safety rules? If they don't, it's non-compliance and it means they're at risk of having a serious accident.

If you turn a blind eye on your employees' non-compliance you're allowing them to break the rules and, in this case, the law.

This is a huge error on your part because it means you aren't protecting them. You must do this, even if you're only protecting them from themselves...

 

Here's why you mustn't ignore your employee non-compliance

 
If your employees don't follow your health and safety rules, it means they don't follow safety procedures. 
 
For example, if your employee uses a machine without doing the correct safety checks, he could miss that a part of the machine is loose. This part could come off once he turns the machine on and hit him. 
 
If you ignore the fact that your employees don't follow your rules, you're not doing everything you can to prevent accidents like this.
 
That's why you need to have these controls in place to help you enforce their compliance.

Put these three controls in place to ensure your employees comply with your health and safety rules
 
1. You must include the punishment for breaking health and safety rules in your disciplinary code. By having a system of punishment in place, your employees will be less likely to break the rules.  
 
2. Instruct your safety officers to watch for non-compliance and report it to you. This will ensure employees' non-compliance doesn't go unnoticed.
 
3. Train your employees properly on how to follow your rules. They may not be complying because they don't understand the rules.
 
By doing this, you can ensure your employees are safe and your whole company complies with health and safety regulations.
