Have you forgotten from your tax number? Use these three ways to request if from SARS

Forgetting passwords is very common. It happens to almost everyone. But the good thing is in many instances you can reset it. But what happens if you forget your tax number, is there any recourse? Read on to find out...

If you've forgotten your tax number, you'll be glad to know, there's a way to get it back.

Use these three ways to request your tax number from SARS if you've forgotten it

  1. Visit your nearest SARS branch to get it. Please take along your ID.
  2. Get it on eFiling if you're registered as an eFiler. All you need to do is log on and check your number.
  3. Request it from the SARS Contact Centre on . Remember to have your ID number on hand as SARS will have to authenticate who you are.


Is it safe to request your tax number using these methods?

Yes. says it will NOT provide your tax number to another person, unless the person is your tax consultant or has power of attorney to conduct your tax affairs.

It's that simple. Use these three methods to request your tax number from SARS if you've forgotten it.
